Dr Christopher Cheok

Topic: Psychiatric Disorders during Cancer Recovery 

Dr Christopher Cheok is currently the Vice Chairman Medical Board (National Addictions Management Service), Institute of Mental Health. He is a Senior Consultant psychiatrist and a visiting consultant to the Singapore Armed Forces and Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.  He is also a member of the medical board of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore. During his career with the Singapore Armed Forces, Dr Christopher Cheok has been the Commanding Officer of Medical Classification Centre, the Deputy Commander of the Military Medicine Institute and the Head of the Psychological Care Centre. He has served in peacekeeping missions in East Timor and in humanitarian relief mission during the Asian Tsunami.

Topic: Chinese Medicine Treatment Strategies To Treat Cancer and To Reduce Side Effects of Western Treatment

Associate Professor Jia Hong Lu was graduated from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine with a Bachelor degree in TCM, a certified TCM Practitioner with MOH, Associate Professor and deputy director of the Second Hospital of Shanxi Medical University.

A/Pro Jia Honglu has a great wealth of experience as he had been doing medical research and teaching for nearly 30 years. He specializes in the tumours and cancer treatments, metabolic diseases resulting in Diabetes, Stroke and Paralysis, pains management and sports injuries.   He had published in several medical journals in China. He was entrusted by the Chinese government to work as medical expert in Republic of Cameroon. In Singapore, he had been involved in the Media Corp programs such as, “In a Pulse, Medicine”, MediaCorp Channel 8 “Hello Good Morning” interview and CHANNEL NEWSASIA “Find Me A Cure” Traditional Medicine program.

Registered TCM physician; graduate of the double degree program in Biomedical Sciences (Nanyang Technological University) and Traditional Chinese Medicine (Beijing University of Chinese Medicine). She has many years of experience in treating digestive disorders, gynaecological diseases and pain-related diseases. She is effectively bilingual and is able to complement both biomedical and TCM knowledge clinically. She has conducted numerous TCM talks to the public and has taught TCM courses at NTU’s Confucius Institute.

Passionate to inspire others, Siti Hamidah started her career as a teacher, moved on to serve as Social Worker cum Counsellor at Darul Ihsan Orphanage in 1983, Senior Social Worker at PPIS in 1987, Manager of AlHijrah Division of AMP (Association of Muslim Professionals) in 1992, Part-time Medical Social Worker at National Care Centre where she run the support group for Malay speaking Cancer patients and caregiver in 2005-2006, Academic Advisor with the Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission in Singapore in 2010, Head of Day Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Community Outreach at Club HEAL (from June 2012 up to October 2014) and EQ Relationship Coach at PT Radani (Jakarta) from 2014.

Topic: The causes of cancer and its preventive measures – A TCM perspective

Physician PEH WEI LIANG WILLIAM, graduated from Singapore Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and China Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM), with a double Bachelor degree in Biomedical Sciences and Medicine (Chinese Medicine). He has vast experiences treating traumatic injuries, pain management problems, digestive, respiratory, oncological and dermatological diseases as well as stress-related conditions. He is the Supervisor of Singapore Chung Hwa Medical Institution Woodlands Branch and the vice-president of NTU Chinese Medicine Alumni Association. He is currently in TCM Master (Internal Medicine: Oncology [Cancer]) at China Liaoning University of Chinese Medicine (LUCM).
